Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies

You can find the recipe here.

The only thing I changed was that I basically didn’t do Step 4. It confused me - and they came out just find putting them on a cookie sheet normally.

This time we did also experiment with adding some peanut butter at the very end. (obviously not my choice.) But apparently they were good.  Might be something to try in the future - I’m told it makes them taste like they are deep fried because of the oils in the peanut butter. (It also makes them look swirly and pretty)

So you want some? Go bid on them tomorrow TODAY! (6/22) at: www.whatswithwhit.com Whitney is having a bake sale to benefit the Chron’s and Colitis Foundation.  There will be lots of other goodies up to bid on also, and bidding starts at just $5, so you should go check it out! :) ** Thanks to all who voted, the bidding has now ended! **

Oreo Balls

Not sure where the original recipe came from, but this version was sent to me in an email from a relative.

Ingredients:
8 oz. Softened Cream Cheese
18 oz. package of Oreo Cookies (crushed)
2 c Semi-sweet or Milk Chocolate Chips
1 Tbsp. Shortening

Mix cream cheese with electric mixer until fluffy.  (I’m thinking about using the “whipped” cream cheese and see if I can skip this step.)

Crush Oreo Cookies. (We put the Oreos in a plastic bag and rolled over them with a rolling pin.) Add crushed cookies to the cream cheese and mix until well blended.

Put mixture in freezer for at least 2 hours.  (This is so the cream cheese firms back up so you are able to roll them into balls.)

Roll cookie mixture into 1 inch balls and set aside.  Melt chocolate chips and shortening in the microwave.  Using a toothpick or tongs, dip balls into melted chocolate and place onto waxed paper.

After chocolate has slightly hardened, store in the refrigerator.

Makes 3-4 dozen, depending on the size of the ball.

(I’m betting these would also be really good rolled in candy canes, or nuts, or, really, anything, while the chocolate is still wet.)
